Nice to see you!
I’m so glad you’re here!
So, for the past few days I’ve been thinking about first-time Christians and I’ve wanted to make a page just for them. Well, here it is. I got inspired to do this because I love getting to know God and I hope you will too. The first step of the journey is always so beautiful, and it’s a time of great joy as you believe in an invisible God who’s after your heart forever and ever. It’s also so good to see your life change as you get to know Him more.
A few things I want you to know:
- Number One: This blog is about getting to know yourself more and find your identity in Christ
That is my mission for this blog. And this mission will never end; even if the blog ends, the mission won’t. Your identity is so valuable, and where you place it matters. The thing about being a Christian is that you live set apart. Set apart doesn’t mean you have a long list of rules you follow or things you don’t do because you’re a Christian. Living set apart means you live by love and are alive in the resurrected body of Christ. You place your identity in Christ, knowing that in Him you are so many things humans couldn’t even count. You are chosen, redeemed, accepted, loved, alive, special, beautiful, and so much more.
This is your journey. God will be the navigator, but you will be the seeker. In this journey, you can choose to accept the identity that is in Christ Jesus and you can learn more about Him, and have a life full of adventure and blessed discovery of yourself and your identity as a child of God.
- Number Two: God loves YOU
This is a truth for now and forever. Even for the past, even before the cross, God loved you. It doesn’t matter what you say, do, think. It doesn’t matter who you are, or how insignificant you think you are, you matter to and are loved by God. God loves you no matter what. His love is unconditional. And it isn’t going to stop. Also, nothing can separate you from His love. It is so strong that it can move mountains, and it isn’t going to stop moving mountains anytime soon. God’s love is so powerful that it can break through any stronghold you’re dealing with and set you free.
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow–not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.
-Romans 8:38 NLT
That’s how much you mean to me!
That’s how much I love you!
I’d sell off the whole world to get you back,
trade the creation just for you.
-Isaiah 43:4 MSG
- Number Three: Jesus Christ is your Savior
There is one man who was perfect on earth. There is one man who is the very incarnation of God’s love for us. There is one man who was kinder, braver, and more lovely than we could ever think or imagine. This man died on a cross to save you and redeem your life, and He didn’t exclude anyone from this beautiful redemption. That means you (Yes, you!) are redeemed and this means so much for your life. You live anew in the life of Christ, and this means that you live in freedom. You are no longer bound by chains of any stronghold, because the cross has given you a new life, one that is full of freedom. God wants you to be free, because He loves you and He wants the best for you. So accept Him as Savior of your life, and walk in the new-found freedom of Christ.
- Number Four: You are filled with the Holy Spirit
This is a gift God gives you when you become a Christian. He fills you with His Spirit. This is nothing to be afraid of, I promise. I know it may seem mystical and far away, but it really isn’t. God’s Spirit is God, and God is Love. The Holy Spirit is a wonderful thing. It rests upon our worship, prays on our behalf when we are too weak to pray on our own or even when we don’t know what to pray for, and builds us up. It is a beautiful, beautiful thing. The Holy Spirit fills you, and when it rests upon your spirit there is nothing else like it. There is a lie out there that we must give all self-control over to it, which is not well founded, because one of the fruits of the Spirit is indeed self-control. You do not have to give your mind over to any spirit, and besides, God’s Spirit is good and it seeks not to gain control of your mind and make you act weird or deluded but to lead you closer to Christ. So don’t be afraid of it, welcome it into your life and see how it goes, ask God about it and ask God to guide you as you embark on this journey to know Him and His Spirit more.
- Number Five: God wants a relationship with YOU
This journey isn’t yours to go on alone. You are accompanied by God Himself, and He will never leave you or forsake you. This journey is all about your relationship with God, and getting closer to Him. This is a never-ending journey that stretches throughout eternity, and as you follow it you begin to realize more about God and just how great He is. But this isn’t just about Him. God wants to be in a relationship with you not only because He cares about your soul and its health, but also because He loves you deeply and knows that it will benefit you greatly to have a relationship with Him. Also, because He loves you so deeply, He wants a personal relationship with you, just to be with you. Almost like a mother, except even closer. He wants your friendship and companionship, and He most definitely enjoys the company of His child.
- Number Six: Live for Christ
Your life is not your own once you become a Christian. Your life is for Christ and Christ lives in you. When you live for Him, there is a certain joy in your life. The God you serve is such a good God, and He loves you so much as to put special gifts of love into every moment of your life. These gifts show you more of Him, and they can be the little things. Someone nice coming into your life, your favorite chocolate in a foreign country, a kind word from a stranger, the sun shining through your window. These are the kind of gifts God gives you, and there are more of them every single day. Be glad to serve God, and don’t hesitate to do what He wants you to do. Now, this isn’t because you’ll get punished if you don’t do whatever God says, that isn’t true. But it’s because God’s will for you is good, and it is what is best for you (this is speaking from personal experience; I’m not telling you something that I don’t even know myself). Live for Christ, serve the Kingdom and find joy in the beautiful Lord. God is so good, and He wants you to live for Him because it is indeed the only way to really live. As you discover more about this new life, you start to realize that it is the path to freedom. God wants you to live free, and by His Son’s sacrifice, He made that possible. You are no longer held down by the world and its chains of sin, but you are free in the power of Christ’s resurrection.
